Mini Moke Redesign
Rapid ideation sketch of this Mini Moke redesign targeted for personal recreation, around-town transport, and light utility such as farm use, job sites, or grounds crew work. Research included gathering images and specifications of the original Mini Moke, and looking at how Mokes have been used since original production. With only an eighty inch wheelbase, original size requires thorough checking of component location and design proportions.
Design process
This redesign included a full size mockup of the Mini Moke footprint, allowing human scale testing of dimensions and cargo area during the design process. Questions such as leg and head room, seat height, and what will it ultimately hold, restrain, or tow were all explored. Currently available and easy to repair technology such as safety fuel cells and off-the-shelf engine dimensions fit within the design, and the wheelbase gets five more inches for comfort.
Small with a big engine
Given a small vehicle with a 1.3 liter engine, more than a few people have been known to race Mini Mokes as well, as shown in this redesign image.
